Expired passport

Post by Hannah1973 » Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:12 am

My passport expired which contains my Indefinite leave to remain am I still able to work in the UK legally?

When I have been through passport control and show both passports current and the expired passport with the permit they have said I dont need to change it.

My previous employer had no problem with it.

You need to apply for an ILR BRP card. Your ILR vignette won't be accepted as proof of right to work or rent in the UK. This changed a few years ago already.

Travelling with both passports etc is different to working and living in the UK and proving your right for either.

Alternatively, apply for British citizenship.

I need to go to Italy in April. And applying for an ILR BRP card takes up to 6 months. Will Visas and Immigration need to hold onto my passport for six months or should just go with the fast track option?

UKVI does not keep any original documents anymore :!: :!:
There is no BRP fast track service. It takes 6 months
