For those who applied and received EC from abroad: What is usually the time period in which you are required to enter UK with the HSMP visa?

People concerned please say what your visa label says exactly...

1. Within the valdity of the HSMP visa = 12 months.

2. VISA HSMP - No recourse to public funds.

Dear Kayalami,

So it doesn't explicitly say "work allowed"? Is it that if there is no stamp saying "employment prohibited" employment is indeed allowed? I didn't find anything on this in the rules nor the IDIs...

Hsmphopefully,

Usually HSMP is written in full on the Visa as Highly Skilled Migrant Programme...

Surely, any employer who employs a 'Highly Skilled' migrant should 'infer' that the person is NOT prohibited to take up employment...

If in doubt - explain it to the employer ..unfortunately some of them dont have a clue

What about 2 years period of initial HSMP visa validity?
Did anybody get this 2 years visa validity like Ajay?
In my case it really would be helpful.

What about the time period in which I should enter the UK? Is it 12 months? and if I enter UK in let's say 10 months will my visa still be valid for one year after my landing in London?

No, from what I understand, the clock starts from the date in your HSMP visa, so the later you come to the UK, the more difficult it would be to show yourself economically viable. If you come in 10 months, chances are you blew it, unless you are an ESM (Extraordinarily Skilled Migrant), but then you don't need this particular program: they want you anyhow...

Sorry, just thinking ahead, what is the cost for HSMP renewal (I am referring to get the 3 year period after one year in UK).

Does one pay for you only or for whole family, can you give me family ones also please. Figure(s) in GBP would suffice.

I found an interesting link on the IND web site:
http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/default.asp?PageId=1165

It tells the employers to look for specific stamps on the passports to judge who is legal to work in UK.
