Re: Re-entering UK with expired BRP card

Hi salmanbutt. My son was travelling from back to the UK by way of background. He did get back into Heathrow and explained the situation and he was let in without too much trouble and was told to renew the card. Every situation will be different.

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Yes, as confirmed by admin my family has ILR. Since my last post, my son's renewal card and paperwork arrived (12th Jan I think). So his renewal in total took about 3 months. So that's two of my kids now whose renewals were processed in about 3 months so if they keep this up you should be fine by ...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Good news, my daughter's BRP arrived. Application mid to late September 2017. Home Office email with Case ID was sent October 2nd 2017. New BRP card arrived 15th December 2017 (followed by other docs the next day). So about 3 months in all. This is a month's improvement on my other kids ...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Unfortunately, two of my kids' BRP(RC) renewals took just over 4 months this year. I have two other kids whose applications are in progress. Their letter states in may take up to 6 months. I wish you the best of luck.

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Thanks Chickpea, appreciate the information. I'll be sure to let you know what happens. If they reject the form I'll scream. I've just re-filled in my son's one and the questions are precisely the same but there is more information about exemptions from fees for certain categories such as refugees.

Re: BRP(RC) applications

I just noticed that they've updated the BRP(RC) form to ver 09 effective 8th September 2017. So please be aware of this if you, like me, filled in the form a while ago. I was just about to send off my son's renewal application which I'd printed off and filled in some time ago and saw the new form. I ...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Thank you. I rang the HO today for advice and they said my daughter needs to wait for the letter acknowledging the application that will include the case ID. Apparently this should suffice. I won't hold my breath. The irony is of course that my daughter's lost income will probably amount to or ...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

After having sent off my daughter's BRP(RC) application she's run into difficulty with her work. She is a student at university with a part-time job but her employer won't give her anymore shifts nor will he pay for the 3 days' work she's just done because she can't provide proof of residency. She ...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Update: After posting off BRP(RC) applications for two of my kids in May and doing scans in June I received their passports yesterday (16th Sept 17) with a letter stating that the BRP cards will follow shortly. So about 4 months processing time. I've just sent off another of my kid's renewal ...

Re: Re-entering UK with expired BRP card

Isn't the distinction here that it's not visa expiry but an ILR card that is expired? The right to be in the UK is still valid. Also my son was asked after being let through with his expired BRP card to bring both his new and old BRP card the next time he re enters the UK. I'm not even sure they'll ...

Re: Re-entering UK with expired BRP card

Glad the thread is helpful. I'd meant to add to this so you've reminded me. My son recently returned from abroad with his expired BRP card (about 6 weeks expired) and went through Heathrow. He was told that the card was expired but was let through with no real problems. Waiting times for replacement ...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

I applied for my kids' replacement cards in early May this year (2017) and received an acknowledgement email on 24th May 2017.
Scans taken early June 2017. I'll update with progress.

BRP RC (Replacement BRP card) Processing Times

For those of you with a BRP (Biometric Residency Permit) card that is expiring in the next year be sure to get your application in early. I was told up to 6 months and during this time they hold your passport (and card) so you cannot book any travel abroad. I'll update this thread with processing ...

Re: Re-entering UK with expired BRP card

Thanks for the prompt reply. In fact, the man I spoke with at Heathrow said the same thing. From my experience when we've checked in we've only ever shown the kids' passports and the BRP card only ever comes out when returning to the UK.

Re-entering UK with expired BRP card

I've trawled through the forum but can't find my scenario. My family has ILR and my youngest kids' BRP cards expire in June this year. I was going to send off the applications but when I enquired about processing time I was told "up to 6 months". Two of my kids have trips abroad planned and they'll ...
