Thank you for the responses, both.

And congrats to all getting their visas granted - it seems to be happening much quicker these days.

Thanks for the reply. I think that is correct about the time spent outside the UK - it is for British citizenship that you need to spend the three years etc. Not sure about the rules thing though. I understand that it is when you started your 'route into the UK' (i.e. by applying for a family visa ...

Back again...

Hi all My husband was granted his FLRM a few months back (after a 7 month wait!) having switched from a fiancee visa. He applied for his FLRM after 8 July 2012 and the visa was granted under the new rules. However, given that he applied for his fiancee visa a full month before 8 July 2012, should ...

Why wait? Get your MP involved as soon as possible. maybe will take long if I complain  No, that's not true - complaining will not add any time. I'm worried that they have forgotten about your application or lost it, as it is unusual for it to take so long these days. I really think you need ...

Just thought I'd spread the news...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21941395 On another note, for those of you getting refused on what seem like spurious grounds, I fear that this is because they are under so much pressure they are just rushing and screwing up applications. I think you should appeal, a lot of applications are ...

Re: ILR qualifying period

Hi all Now that my husband has his visa (for the Skydrive, we received docs and BRP on 7 March), we are wondering about the time he needs to spend continuosly in the UK to eventually qualify for ILR. We are under the new rules so we know it's 5 years, however: When did this period start? We have ...

Visa granted (we assume!!!)

Hi all Just wanted to let you know that the UKBA told me today that our documents were posted to us yesterday and should be with us by tomorrow, and also DX left a card in the letterbox for my husband meaning that they tried to deliver his BRP and which in turn means that he has been granted his ...

Oh dear... I don't think there is a way to do that. You don't have a certified copy of your passport? When I did a CRB they accepted a certified copy of my passport - that is stamped as a true copy of the original by a lawyer or a bank or other financial institution. Could you find out if they will ...

It's what they told our MP's office. In some ways it's a good sign for other applicants - they have perhaps hired some more people. Not great news for us though.

Apparently my case worker is in training and the reason it's taking so long is that they basically have to get everything signed off by another more senior caseworker. Great.

It says 95% of postal applications WITHIN 6 months. In addition to this I have been repeatedly quoted (by UKBA staff, on the phone) that they aim to send out a BM letter within 6 weeks of the date of receipt of the application, and to make a decision within 4 weeks of the BM details being enrolled ...

Yeah that would make more sense. Sigh. I'm going to Singapore for work in a week's time, going to have to leave my husband behind... In all honesty I am considering taking legal action against the UKBA - for distress/inconvenience, breach of contract and loss of earnings. I will need to investigate ...

When exactly did I say we were a special case? The reason I am making a fuss is not simply because our application is taking so long, but because there are so many people in the same situation and it is totally unfair for the government to treat us like this. Perhaps making a fuss has led to our ...

I'm really not sure, but I would guess it is because they need to cancel your old visa so they can issue the new one.

Re: Interpreting Skydrive data for FLR(M)

or is there something else going on here (like a freak spike in applications made in early July)? Yes there was as the rules changed on 9 July 2012 and lots of people got their applications in before that to take advantage of the old rules. Hoping this means that post-9 July applications are fewer ...

Xiaozhu: to be honest, though you have tried everything in your right to get them to make the application process but as per guidelines they have 6 months anyway and like you said they have completed today so I do not know what is the fuss. Though they should have completed within 6 months but now ...

Yes, it's bad. They have effectively lied to both me and my MP. And of course once again it highlights the lack of transparency - they tell you one thing and then do another, try to backtrack. I had no idea that a decision has to be 'approved'. Why don't we know these things? On another note, I ...

Hi all Sorry it's been a while since I last posted - we went away for a short break (in the UK, alas...) Nope, still haven't recieved the docs. I'm REALLY angry because the last thing we heard from the UKBA was that a decision had been made on 6 Feb and the docs would be posted shortly. The UKBA ...
