British Passport: professional status of counter-signatory

Hi,

I am due to apply for a British Passport soon. I am planning to get my passport application counter-signed by a friend who has known me for 10 years and who has been holding a British passport for 4 years. He works as an IT contractor through his own limited company of which he is the Director and is therefore qualified to counter sign a passport application as "director of a limited company".

However, he started and incorporated the company only 2 months back. Do you think my application may run into issues because the person countersigning the application acquired the necessary "professional status" only 2 months back?

Any thoughts / comments, particularly from gurus / senior members would me much appreciated.

Regards,

Utopia

I have a similar question for other members.. My frnd who counter signed had his company for 2 yrs now but he got his citizenship only 4 months ago. I am going for BC next month.

Please let me know if this will cause any kind of issue.

Date is not a requirement at all.
It just has to be a professional from the list of accepted professions.

Thanks.
Can I assume that the date you mentioned applies for both start of company and when he (the person who countersigned) got the citizenship?

Your first referee needs to be a professional from the list. He/she does not to be a British citizen.
Your second referee needs to be British citizen over the age of 25.
They both should have known you more than 3 years.
Those are all the requirements.

Guys,

Thanks for your replies but my original question was about a British Passport application and not a British Citizenship application. The British Passport application only requires one referee to counter-sign (correct me if I am wrong). However, the list of professions is the same as that for a BC application.

Have I posted into an incorrect forum path? Apologies if I have.

So can I assume I am fine as long as the counter-signatory satisfies the profession requirement regardless of dates?

Regards

Utopia

I think the same applies for a referee for British passport as I never came across a requirement that someone had to be a professional for specific time.

Thanks milan69. I agree with you. I was only being careful and double-checking things before making an application. Thanks once again.
