I called my bankers today (11/09/2014) to confirm if there has been an attempt for the fees (906) being debitted from my account and they confirmed to it. I formally gave them the clearaance to see the payment through because I was expecting the fees to have been deducted from my account after 8days of sending my application. Already having goose pimples on these delays as I understand that the turn around period for approval is in the region of 4month plus?

No you don't.
They'll copy your passport and give you the original back. You have to take your passport/s and original documents with you when you for your appointment though.

Didn't request it. Just got an e-mail today acknowledging that they had received the application and processed the fee. Also gave me the case reference number. I understand that this same acknowledgement letter is also sent via post.

It's good if they have actually started using 20 years old technology to speed things up
Haven't checked my email today so don't know if they sent me one or not, but wife has told me that acknowledgement letter has arrived today by post.
