Hi,
Can someone please en-light me I have just booked and appointment in NCS Edinburgh Council for my Naturalisation.
I obtained my ILR on the bases of Long residence, but they don't have any section for this category in their form so the NCS person put me in:
Applying Under Section
6 (1) A: applying based on 5 years UK residence
And said that will cover my above 5 years stay and beyond.
Is it ok I don't know what 6 (1) A: means?
Thanks

Citizenship is not another visa it's a privilege.
It doesn't matter how you acquired ILR, just that you have it as it is one prerequisite for naturalisation.
Section 6(1) is the section of BNA that applies to your case.

For adults there are 2 main categories for Naturslisation
AN6(1) and AN6(2).
AN6(2) is if you're applying under spouse of British citizen. AN6(1) is for any other basis ( such as long residence, Tier based)
Good Luck also... we have been waiting since June.

Just a quick question, I got an NCS appointment with Edinburgh Council in December 2015 and have travel plans in Feb 2016 just for a week.
Therefore do NCS staff will photocopy and return my original BRP containing my ILR? As I will need it to coming back to UK.
Thanks

One of the major benefits of using NCS is the ability to retain your travel documents. You shouldn't have any issues keeping your BRP and your passport.
On a side note, the HO can during the process request the originals, if they want to but that is not a common practice.

Ok, thanks, that's great.
Then what will be the answer of 6.7 and the rest after that?
6.7 BRP enclosed: Yes / No
If not enclosed then please state the location of BRP? ..... etc

Home office AN application form questions are not worded in a manner suitable for NCS submission. But rather for postal applications.
So the answer to this question would be yes. As the NCS certified BRP would be considered the original BRP in this instance.

Some of my friends have told them that NCS staff have been very helpful in filling out blank sections of the form. If you are unsure of a part, then I would do exactly the same, ask here for public opinion and then see what the NCS staff tell you. You should get a good idea of what to fill in on the day of your NCS appointment, which is why it is an hour long.

However do note that it is the applicant who is responsible for the contents of the form being submitted;
it is the applicant who signs the legal declaration vouching for the contents of the form.
So if NCS do add or change something make sure you understand 'what' & 'why'.
There have been cases (reported in forum) where NCS took a rather cavalier approach to changes & caused difficulties with a person's application.

Thanks every one,
Yes that's correct, just spoken to the NCS people on phone and been told same thing; to tick YES and they will only submit certified copy of BRP, I can keep the original one.

Got two more questions, if anyone can help me?
Since I am attaching my BRP (Certified copy) do I have to fill this section?
6.12 Have you had your fingerprints taken as part of a previous UK immigration application made in the UK or abroad? If yes then I have to fill date (which I don't remember) and place.
Or this section is only for those who lost their BRP?
And can some one be kind enough to send me the direct link of fee / payment slip document that go along with AN from.
Many thanks

Re Q6.12 Yes - you are expected to complete the question.
Simply google: UK naturalisation payment fees

Sorry another silly question
Should I need to tick 7.7 on page 28 in Declaration section:
7.7 *I declare that, although I do not meet all of the statutory requirements for naturalisation, I believe that, in view of the following special circumstances, the Home Secretary should treat me as fulfilling those requirements or waive the need in my case to fulfil them.

You would only tick that if it applies to your circumstances (I.e. if you do not meet all the statutory requirements & have mentioned special circumstances on the form). Otherwise you should strke that line out as mentioned on the form, if it doesn't apply to you.

You need to read the statement, decide if it applies in your case and then answer accordingly.
If there is some statutory requirement that you have
not met (but you are applying anyway
by relying on some special circumstances) then tick it.
But if you
have met all the statutory requirements for the privilege of citizenship then 7.7 will not apply & so it
should be deleted (as instructed, on the form).

OK, but I don't know what's that statutory requirements mean actually? and where can I find them?
My case is simple and I think I meet all the naturalisation requirements like:
Its been a year since I have obtained my ILR, which I obtained on the basis of long residence. I don't know what else I need to add up to meet the statutory requirements.

Please read the AN Guide & AN Booklet which detail the statutory requirements you need to meet for naturalisation. The main sections would be, the ones covering residence requirements and good character. It's important that you read these when completing the AN form, as there is a lot more than holding ILR for one year, that you will need to satisfy. Your circumstances may mean you satisfy all requirements, in which case the original statement that you enquired about in the form will not apply. But do read through the details to ensure you understand all the requirements first.
