Hi all,i received a refusal letter today,i am not really upset because i have been expecting it,i need your help
guys to tell me if its worth spending another 80 pounds for reconsideration.
i arrived in uk back in 1992 on a tourist visa,the same month i arrived a civil war started in my home country
my family at the time called me and asked to stay in England with my uncle and not to go back till things
get better,i was 19 then.So i decided to stay and started working illegally till 2005 when i applied for my ILR
which i got in 2008.
before i applied for my citizenship i decided to call HO to see if i can apply due to the changes that have been
applied since 2014,i called them twice i have noted their names and time that i called.they both said to me
you can apply after i gave them my name and my HO reference.
Guys do you think i should apply for reconsideration and mention my phone calls that led me to throw 1k
down the drains,if they said to me you should wait till 2018 i would have waited.

Regrettably claiming the refusal has been due to bad advice, even with the names as reference will achieve nothing. If you search the forum you will find that the HO 'help line' staff are notorious for giving incorrect guidance, even on the simplest of immigration issues. Even more regrettable, they take no responsibility for the result of their errors.

You can reapply in 2018, 10 years after your stay in the UK became legal.

its a shame that nobody is held accountable,incompetent staff well i guess 2018 then
i am gonna save myself that 80 pounds then,thanks guys for your replies

HO telephone staff and NCS don't care about the application outcome and applicant money. so my advise not to rely on them when submitting your such an important application and it's worth taking advise from a good solicitor if your case is not simple.

Also before 2018 stay out of any trouble with any authority in UK. Then you will be fine.

thank you wise for the kind comment,its only 2 years from now i waited longer in the past
