Hi.
My husband is due to take it B1 English exam in 2 weeks.
Just wondering what everyone thought of it? And how it went?
Did everyone pass? What sort of questions to expect?

Thank you.

I think you should recieve a smal booklet when you book the exam. It mentions the format of the exam.

Also, Please see the mock tests which can help you

Hi,

Its a simple exam and consists of Speaking & Listening. You need to decide 5 topics which are discussed during first half and there are 5-6 fixed topics of which examiner will choose 2 topics and talk on that. Total test duration is 10 minutes but the whole process may take 45-60 minutes.

Marking?
His English is good he doesn't seem worried and is confident and I'm just being a stress head lol.

Marks will be strictly awarded according the level of English required to pass the B1 level test.

I am a native English speaker so I found it very easy.

If you have been living in the UK for a couple of years and actively learning/speaking English, you should have no trouble with it.

Why did you take the test if you are native speaker?

The test is really easy, just make sure you use appropriate words and phrases they look at (see the booklet). I came to this country 9 years ago with very basic english skills and passed the test with distinction. Hope this helps.

Not all countries with native English speakers are exempt from the English requirement. My home country certainly isn't exempt and I was schooled and raised as English.

I never received any kind of booklet or advice on the structure of the test, so I looked up information online.

The format is a simple conversation between two candidates. The examiner will ask you questions about yourself, and give a topic to talk about with each other.

I found it very simple, however I was lucky being in the room with someone with a similar English level. My sister sat the exam with someone whose English level unfortunately was not good enough to hold a conversation. As you can imagine my sister was very concerned that the inability of the other candidate to hold a conversation with her would have an affect on her score.

All in all I'd say there is nothing to worry about this exam.

It is not an interrogation nor a spoonfeeding question/answer session so familiarise yourself with the format.
Confidence in speaking in public, also speaking and interacting with strangers and under 'test conditions' may come into it too.

Not everyone passes - there wouldn't be much point if they did.
So don't take test for granted.

They are. I was born in Finland, I never said I lived there :!:

Feel free to PM me if you want to continue the discussion so we don't completely steer this thread off topic
