Hi,

I gained ILR just over a year and I am now looking to apply for naturalisation.

The problem I have is that I do not have the 5 yrs worth of required letters to prove 5 yr residency, I only have 2 yrs at best.

Is it still possible to apply with missing paperwork?.

Your thoughts and feedback would be much appreciated.

Many thanks - ppp333

Have you checked the form AN for the evidence needed? For naturalisation application, a passport is enough as evidence of lawful residence.

Thanks for reply,

Yes the form states the following:

'SECTION 3: Evidence of lawful residence during the 5 (or, if the applicant is married or in civil partnership to a British
citizen, 3) years before the date of the application: required for applications made on the basis of residence in the
United Kingdom: required for all applicants
• Your passports OR
• Letters from employers, educational establishments or other Government Departments indicating presence
in UK.'

But I have never held a passport and again do not have 5 yrs worth of letters.

Thanks again.

Could you please provide more background on your immigration history in the UK?

On what basis were you granted ILR? How did you prove your identity?

Thanks Jambo,

I came to the UK in 1995 when I was 11 yrs old, with my mother as a minor in her passport. I applied for ILR in 2002, based on the 7 year Child Concession, to be considered outside the immigration rules. My ILR was granted and sent in November 2010 as an Immigration Status Document as I did/do not have a passport.

I hope this helps and thanks once again.
