settlement checking service returned my passport-Set(M)

Hi all,
I am bit confused. I was reading posts here and some used to write about their passports been received, not received etc. But when i submitted my application via settlement checking service they have taken photo copies and returned my and my partners passport to me.
Is this correct? At the time I thought it may be correct as visa will be in the biomentric card ( they submitted it only).
I was asked to do my new biometrics too but waiting since Aug 2012.
Should I worry or not about my passport.
