All

Today my wifes ILR application was approved at croydon. She went to apply for ILR on her own right 6 months Wp + 4 yrs 6 months on tier1 general.

She is currently on maternity leave from jul 2012, so she claimed her earnings from jul 2011 -jun 2012. She submitted our sons birth certificate and Maternity allowance claim documents to prove her maternity absence.

She had total 165 absences from uk in 5 years, that includes her two trips 60 days and 40 days in 2008 and 2009, she simply went for longer holidays to our home country. Also she was not employed during this absence.we didn't provide any evidence for this absence and simply mentioned reason as "family visit". Also didn't bother ticking anything for question 6.3 related to evidences.

Here's how it went in the peo today

Appointment at 10 am, reached there at 9.30 and after checks, payment we were seen by the caseworker for initial assessment. Once this was done sent for biometrics.

10.15 - Now we were back to waiting area and waiting for caseworkers call.

11.20- call from caseworker and a lady just asked for the form along with all the documents we would wish to submit. She just collected everything as one bunch and told it will take 2 hrs to process the case. We said ok and decided to wait again opposite to the counters.

While we were waiting, we could see many caseworkers call the token numbers and speak to the applicants if they have any queries on the application.but my wife was never called for any queries.

1.15 pm - caseworker called her and broke the good news with all originals and approval letter.

Note- I was not part of her application, but I was allowed to be with her during the entire process.

Good luck everyone, happy to answer any queries.

Congrats on the ILR for your wife.

So you saying that all the absences taht your wife had were unpaid ?

This is in line with what I had spoken to several experienced solicitors that it doesnt matter for Tier 1 as long as its less than 180.

Also, were there any periods of unemployment in the last 12 months which were shown for earnings ?

Can you please advise what you wrote in 7.11 ?

Did you provide any proof for the time she was on WP ?

Also did you submit any letter from employer ?

''In 2005, a report by the South London Citizens enquiry into service provision by the Immigration and Nationality Directorate found that "It was perceived that minimum standards of comfort afforded to British citizens do not apply to migrants waiting for services at Lunar House. Areas of immediate concern include the quality of facilities for applicants, the quality and fairness of transactions, the quality of IT and record keeping and the working conditions of staff.''

How did you find Croydon today?

The report quoted here seems long time ago, but nothing in particular that was worrying us. We thought the PEO is handling the applicants well and keeping people informed through out the process. Again different people have different views/perception.

Her 60 and 40 day absences were unpaid as she was not employed during that time.

She was full time employed till june 2012 without any breaks in 12months prior to june 2012.

4 yrs 11 months was the answer for 7.11

No employer letter for the WP period.
