ILR GTV Dependent

Hi, I entered in the UK in 2021 on Tier-5 visa. Shifted to Tier-2 visa in Feb 2022 and Global talent visa for three years in Feb 2023. My wife was dependent of Tier-5 visa from 2021 to Feb 2023. She then shifted to GTV dependent in Feb 2023. I was eligible for ILR from Feb 2025 but I am applying now. In Feb 2026 visa for both of us gets expiered.

Now when I started to apply for ILT in SET (O) category, website is asking if there is any dependent. I added dependent partner, and then it is asking for Life in UK test number for my wife. so my question is,

Q1. Can my wife apply for ILR with my application? should I add her or not to my ILR application? or simply I should ignore this question?

Q2.If I ignore the question in my application then her new application would be GTV dependent extension or ILR dependent extension? Should we wait for my application result and then apply for her extension? From which link she can apply for extension? I realised that min extension is 3 years so she would be eligible for ILR in Feb 2028 but can apply till Feb 2029.

You can not apply for ILR on one form, provided she also meets all of the requirments, including the absence limits.

FYI The visa route of your dependant does not matter

Thanks,

So time spent on tier-5 dependent visa counts in 5 year counter for my wife? I am so confused now. SHe works at the university and university immigration team advised that time spent in tier-5 dependent visa does not counts.

Changing jobs while on GTV

Hello,

I just applied for ILR in standard category. I have been granted GTV from the university and since then, I left uni for company X and then left company X for company Y. All are in my expert field. My questions are:

1. Can this change of jobs affect my ILR application?

2. Since I applied to standard category, I guess my waiting time for ILR under GTV will be six months. I am planning to change to company Z and leave company Y. Do you think it would affect my ILR application? Do I need to inform UKVI if I change jobs while my ILR application is being processed?

Thank you. Have a nice day.

1. No

2. No effect on the application. No need to inform UKVI about changing jobs.
