Citizenship Application Progress Stage

Post by Malik10991 » Tue Jan 13, 2026 2:33 am

Hi Folks
I applied for my mother's citizenship online in August 2024, I have checked her application progress status it's still stuck on application received. I have sent in an enquiry about the same just before Christmas however, I haven't heard anything back from them. Could you kindly advise me as to what should I do? Should I go and consult/instruct a solicitor? Or shall I wait it out? Now on the side note a friend of mine also applied in October same year and her application is at the 3rd stage or progress already. Any input shall be appreciated.

I would wait - it’s a slow process. There is a big in-tray. You can enquire via the immigration portal (if you have not already, its worth registering for that as it gives a little more detail and feedback) but anecdotally any response to your enquiry (which you can raise on the portal) is likely to take weeks.

Also anecdotally (sample of one) I found that once things started moving, they moved quite quickly.

Look at the timelines on the forum for guidance - things have improved significantly over the past couple of years it seems.
