Skilled Worker Dependent Partner ILR Eligibility

Post by ankitgangwani » Sun Feb 15, 2026 11:20 pm

I entered the UK on 11 October 2020 on an ICT visa. My wife joined me as an ICT Dependent.

I switched from ICT to a Skilled Worker visa within the UK.

Application date: 3 March 2021

Skilled Worker visa start date: 1 April 2021

My wife switched from ICT Dependent to Skilled Worker Dependent on 17 November 2021.

I was granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) on 6 February 2026.

My wife's current Skilled Worker Dependent visa expires on 29 June 2026.

She will complete 5 years on the Skilled Worker Dependent route in November 2026.

My Questions:

Does my wife need to extend her Skilled Worker Dependent visa until November 2026 in order to become eligible for ILR?
Since visa extensions are usually granted for 3 years, would she need to take a full 3-year extension even though she only needs a few extra months to complete 5 years?

Can my wife count the time she spent as an ICT Dependent (from 11 October 2020) towards the 5-year qualifying period for ILR?
If that time counts, she would have already completed 5 years. Since I have already received ILR, would she now be eligible to apply for ILR as well?

Has anyone had a similar situation, or can an immigration expert clarify this?

Thanks for sharing this, I am still finding where in the post says their ILR is approved? could you please point me to the correct direction? Also that post is about 10 years route and I would like to know whether we can count the ICT dependent time for 5 years route

Thanks,
