If I am claiming child benefit or child tax credits will this go against my husbands application for a visa to join us in the UK?

No it won't, those benefits are exempt.

haz2010, you tell us nothing about yourself, so it is impossible to answer your question.

Are you British? EEA? Or if not EEA, what is you UK immigration status?

Theoretically no but in practice probably yes, as benefits are geared to support the entitled claimants, no others.

As I may also be entitled to working tax credit, I am assuming that this is also okay.
