Hello everyone.
I am a UK citizen. My wife is a Ukrainian national, holding a UK residence permit.
Off to Majorca for four days in May.
Do we need a visa? If so, massive pain - as need to travel 600 mile round trip to London to VFS. They are properly useless.... even the St Lucian consulate managed to accept postal applications.
Several references here made to visas not required for spouses of UK citizens, but lots of conflicting info. For instance, card must be embossed with "Residence Card for the family member of an EEA citizen".... well it says spouse. I guess it wont do?
I have found a similar thread to mine here - http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=79742 but it's a while ago, and perhaps out of date?
Not travelling until May, so have some time here - but really can't see the point in needing a day and a half in london. Can't afford the time expense to be honest. Just crazy.
Have sent document scans to VFS, but would hazard a guess they'll say we need one.
Will call the UKBA and suspect they'll plead ignorant.
I know we are LEGALLY allowed to travel, but its not a fight you want to have with the airport staff really.
Thanks for any advice....
Mike
