Certification of Financial requirements

Hello,
I have a question regarding bank statements to be provided along with application to support my sponsor status, do they need to be certified by The Bank or any other authority here in UK? does it matter if they are copies or original?

Assuming you are preparing for a spouse settlement visa.

Bank statements must be originals. If you are going to use online statements, they should be stamped by the bank. Also, the most recent statement of the 6 months bank statements cannot be older than 28 days.
