Maintanence fund requiremnt for dependent

Is it mandatory that I should show 6 months bank statements for maintanence fund or is it enough if I show for last 3 months bank statement for the same ? My husband got VISA in dec and he has shown statements from Aug - 15 to Nov - 20. Can I use the statement period (from Aug to Dec) as we have maintained enogh balance during this period. I am planning to apply by Dec last week.
