Referees for Registering Child as British Citizen

Hello everyone,

I'm registering my 1-year-old as a British Citizen, born in the UK before we got Indefinite Leave to Remain. The guidelines say one referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child. However, no professional has engaged with my child due to their young age.

- Has anyone faced this issue? How did you resolve it?

- Are there alternatives if no suitable professional referee is available?

I can provide the 2nd and 3rd option from below but not 1st option which is requirement for child.

Each referee should know the applicant personally.

1. Where the applicant is a child applying, one referee should be a professional who
has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health
visitor, social worker or minister of religion.

2. For an adult application, one referee should be a person of any nationality who has
professional standing, eg minister of religion, civil servant, or a member of a
professional body e.g. accountant or solicitor (who is not representing you with this
application).

3. For all applications, the second referee must normally be the holder of a British
citizen passport and either a professional person or over the age of 25.[/list]

This happens quite often as the MN1 referee form requires a lot of information like passport number, email, and mobile number which many people aren't comfortable sharing (for obvious reasons). This is what I did quite recently as has been suggested here quite often.

1. Sent an email to GP practice to see if my kid's GP could be the referee. They sent an email back and politely refused to share their information. Took a printout of that email thread, put them in a document, and explained that I tried but the professional who has engaged with my kids isn't ready to share their information then got a friend doctor who works for NHS (not a UK citizen) to sign as one referee. The second referee is a British friend who knows my kids but isn't a professional.

My kid's application is still in process but I have seen other people using the same workflow and have MN1 granted and HO never objects as they obviously know that most people who don't know you personally well enough, won't want to share their address, passport number etc with you.

Wait for more experienced people to offer their opinions but there are quite a few similar threads in the board.

Correct suggestion above. Use anyone you know personally, the HO aren't fussy about that requirement.
If they were, can you imagine how many people the teachers and GP's would have had to give their personal information/ data to?
Full names, DOB, address, phone number, passport number.

Not going to happen. The love for your kid doesn't run that deep and the HO knows.
