BRP application reference number

Hello,

I've found out I need to replace my valid ILR in my expired passport to start a new job. I am told I can apply for BRP and give them the reference number in order to begin my new job.

How far in the application do I need go into to get the reference number? I cannot send my passport to them as I need to travel 24th July. And from my reading...my British spouse needs to send his passport in too?!? I am nervous about this as my parents in Canada are elderly and I may need to travel at any time (because BRP takes 6 months to process!?!?).

Thank you kindly for any help/advice you can offer. It's a minefield trying to get correct info :/

You must submit your application to get a reference. You also must enrol your Biometrics by booking an appointment with UKVCAS.
Passport and original documents will NOT be taken from you. They all are now scanned
