BRP card renewal (expired one year ago)

Post by nabinkl » Sun Jul 28, 2024 9:25 am

Good morning sir/madam
My father has UK settlement BRP no time limit visa. But the problem is his BRP card expired one year ago (2023). we are planning to renew his BRP card. He first got his settlement visa in 2009. He stayed/worked in UK for 3 years then he went back home. since then he has been coming UK every 2 years, stays here for while then returns back home. Could you please help me how can we renew his BRP successfully because we dont have sufficient documents such as bank statements, utility bills etc to cover all those years from 2009 to 2024 to prove he was settled here. Also he did not renew his BRP within three month expiry date. what are consequences? Many thanks.

You were given information by @zimba when you were enquiring about your Mother's right to return back in 2022. Did she successfully apply for a Returning Resident's visa ? How long has your father been spending in the UK on each of his visits?

Thank you @zimba. Yes she came successfully. Thank you for advice. Well my dad was working from 2009 to 2012 and went back home. After that he stayed in UK for a month in every 2 years. In 2020 he stayed for 10 months and in 2022 he stayed for 3 months. Basically he has not stayed outside from UK by more than 2 years in any time through out this period. Many thanks.

You cannot apply for a replacement BRP outside the UK. Instead, you’ll need to apply for a ‘replacement BRP visa’, which lets you re-enter the UK once only. It costs £154.
