BRP replacement update

Post by alasa995 » Thu Oct 10, 2024 9:06 am

Hi everyone,

I recently returned to the UK with a replacement visa after my passport and BRP were stolen abroad (I'm on SWV). I applied for a BRP replacement and had a biometrics appointment on September 24. The day after my appointment, I received an email from "APAD@homeoffice.gov.uk" stating:
"Thank you for your application for a replacement Biometric Residence Permit (BRP). The replacement permit will be sent to you under a separate cover. You should receive your permit within 7 working days. However, if you do not receive the permit(s) within 10 working days of the date of this email, please use the service at www.gov.uk/brp."
Does this mean everything is on track and I should expect my BRP soon? Or should I inform the Home Office if I don't receive it? I've seen some posts on subreddits suggesting it could take up to 3 months. Thanks

**UPDATE:** I have received nothing after more than 12 days. When trying to use the service to report to HO, they ask for the date I received a letter or e-mail from the home office. Do they refer to the email above? I also found this:
You cannot get a BRP if you use the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app to prove your identity when applying to stay in the UK. You’ll need to prove your right to live and work in the UK online instead.
If you apply for a BRP, you will not get one.
I remember using that app once when setting up my UKVI account and e-visa, does that mean I shouldn't get a new BRP? what if I want to travel before the end of this year?

That is what I would do.

I am not sure - you applied for a replacement BRP not for a new one. Follow up about that application. Do you have an eVisa account set up? Personally I would refrain from travelling for a while - the new system is still being rolled out and without a BRP I can see issues arising.
