Me and my wife came on same day to UK 5 years ago. I had a tier 2 general visa and she had a dependent visa. She is working in a private company in UK. I have been with same employer for last 5 years. We had a baby 4 months ago and since then we are on Shared Parental Leave. We are going to apply for ILR next month. I have 2 queries

1. Is it better to hire a solicitor to apply visa on behalf of us or is it better to do it ourselves.
2. What documents me and my wife would need separately for our application.

2. What documents me and my wife would need separately for our application.

Thanks for the response. I think having a solicitor may just give peace of mind as it will reduce any mistakes. I still don't know what documents to provide for me and my wife.

Also how much document is needed to prove co-habitation? Other than council tax bill which comes in both our names for last 5 years, all other bill has only my name. Also i dont have rental agreements of previous years as we were in different address. But bank statements for both of us has our address. Would bank statements and council tax bills be enough?

6 piece of documents if joint named or 12 if are in sole name or mix n match from at least 3 different sources with even gaps of 3-4 months covering the last 2 years. For this purpose, any document from any credible sources (excluding personal/informal written) letters can be utilized. Most often the letters from dvla/hmrc/nhs almost everybody receive living under regardless of arrangements/circumstances. Be known, previous rental agreements aren't needed.

Hi,

I'm on Shared Parental Leave (SPL) since mid July this year and will join office back on feb next year. I'm going to apply for ILR in Tier 2 General route in December.

As per UKVI guidelines the employment support letter along with other things should also mention
1. My salary before the SPL started
2. My salary when i return to work after SPL

Also I'm supposed to provide payslips for the entire period. However i believe this is for normal situation when during the leave if employee is paid less than the required salary for the SOC code.

However, in my case, my employer pays full salary to me as Shared Parental Pay. So in my case is there anything different i need to do? If I just provide latest payslip, would that be fine? Do my employer need to mention in the employment support letter that I receive full salary during SPL?

Please help me with what is the right way to go about this.

Hi,

Is there any deadline to submit documents to UKVCAS site?

My biometric appointment is on 6th January. Currently in the process of uploading the documents in the UKVCAS site. Can the final submission in the site be done on 5th January? I see some comments on this forums about a 48 hour deadline before appointment date to submit the document. But i don't see that info in UKVCAS guidelines.

If my appointment is at 11 am on 6th, do i have to hit the submit button before 11 am on 4th Jan?
If i don't submit by 11 am on 4th Jan, what happens next?

Experts please advice.

Self-submission is OPTIONAL. If you want to benefit from the new feature, you must upload and self-submit up to 48hrs before the appointment. If you do NOT want to self-submit, you can upload ANYTIME before the appointment date and submit at the appointment itself. Self-submission is recommended as you may save some processing time - your documents are sent to UKVI even before biometrics in this case. You can self-submit only ONCE. But if you forget to upload any documents, you can always upload later on (after self-submission) and submit at the appointment then (you will not be able to self-submit again but can submit at appointment).
