Hello everyone,
I have done some reading around on the UKVI site and on some boards but can't seem to figure out the actual steps to renewing my passport and visa "at the same time". This is the situation:
I am a US citizen with US passport. My visa for living in the UK is the EEA2 visa. My passport expires in a month, and when I called the UKVI to find out what happens to my UK visa due to needing the passport renewed, they informed me that I can't get the sticker visa transferred to a new passport, that I will have to apply for a new EEA2 biometric card. I know I have to renew my passport first, but I according to the US embassy I don't get to keep the old one. Do I actually have to reapply for the EEA2 visa all over again as if it were never granted, or is there a particular form I can use instead? I found one called Transfer of Conditions but it says that EEA holders can't use it.
Also, my biometrics are already on file from when I applied for the EEA1 visa two years ago. Does this not help me in the EEA2 biometric passport application?
I am very confused about which form it is I have to fill out and send to UKVI, apparently I don't fall under these: https://www.gov.uk/transfer-visa
Finally, as far as I understood from the people I spoke to at UKVI, I have to send them the completed application with the fee, and then they send me something saying I have to get my biometrics done within a certain time window at the post office. Then when they receive the biometrics they send me another letter with the info which I have to check over and then ... send it back to them and they start the application and I wait 6 months?
Thanks for your patience and any help! MCR
