Eligible to claim Child Benefit?

Post by baljitsingh197701 » Sun Jan 19, 2025 12:53 am

Hi,

I am having similar question, would you be able to answer that pls?

I am having an ILR and my annual salary is 64K and with bonus and over time it just around 78K.

My Wife is dependent on me and she doesn't have ILR and she is not working (housewife), can i apply child benefit on my wife name considering she will get the NI contribution

If your wife has no recourse to public funds, then she cannot claim child benefit. You may be able to transfer the NI credits to her, if you claim child benefit, which will help protect her future state pension entitlement.

When you say "no recourse to public funds", Is that written on Back of BRP (In remark section : No Public find) so she can't apply and i need to apply for child benefit?

There are no BRPs now, on the eVisa it will say no public funds (yes previously on the reverse of the BRP under remarks it would say no public funds).

Regarding transferring NI credits, see - https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ers-cf411a
