Apologies in-advance if this has been already answered in another thread. I would like to discuss the scenario for my spouse visa extension. Since I have only a week before submitting the application, quick responses shall be much appreciated.
Facts
First visa issue date from Pakistan: 09-07-2021 (during covid)
Visa expiration date: 08-04-2024
First visa duration: 2 years 9 month
First entry in UK: 03-10-2021 (when hotel quarantine restriction was lifted)
Total stay until expiry (08-04-2024): 2 years 6 months and 6 days
Required extension to complete 5 years route: exact 2 years 6 months
Expected submission date for extension application: 05-04-2024 (3 days before visa expiration)
Questions
- What would be the length of visa extension that would be granted by UKBA? I read it is usually 2 years and 6 month. Which should just complete 5 years route for my wife. Please confirm I am right or wrong?
- Can someone confirm after 2.5 years extension my wife should be able to apply for ILR or UKBA would expect for another extension so that total stay is more than 5 years?
- Assuming no further extension is required, can my wife be able to apply for ILR a month before the expiration of her extension (i.e. completing stay of 4 years and 11 months) or it must have to be more than 5 years stay which means we should apply for ILR close to the expiration date of the extension?
- IHS payment is now part of the application. Does it mean UKBA would tell us how much fee do we need to pay for this extension or we have to figure this out ourselves. My understanding is since it is 2.5 years extension we would need to pay £2587.50 in total according to new fee i.e. £1035 per year?
