Asylum interview question

Post by Jaac » Sat Jun 17, 2023 10:11 am

Hello. I’ve been in student visa since 2021. I’m a disabled person living in a flat with reception staff. The staff is present at reception 24/7 and need to let everyone entering the building through a buzzer.

For past few weeks the night staff had been harassing me. Last week while going out, we argued a bit and one of the staff threatened me. Then I quietly went out for 1 min and came back. While entering the building they refused to let me enter and told me they have called the police for abusing them which I never did. They said I was shouting and being aggressive which I wasn’t.

They also tried to scare me into accepting they haven’t harassed me for past weeks. I apologised. They let me enter after some time and cancelled the police complaint. Police never came. Later I complained to manager about them, and he said he never asked staff to refuse entry at first.

I may be claiming asylum later and wanted to know how to answer this question in the application.

“Have you ever, in any country, been accused of, or have committed an offence for which you have been, or could have been convicted?”

I’m sorry I’ve forgot the password for that account and can’t access the email at the moment. Asylum application is a new development for me. I was bit confused by the language of the question (“could’ve been convicted”) and asked it for clarification.

I haven’t asked this question before. I’d appreciate if I can get a response. Thanks
