I have a yellow Indefinite Leave to Enter(ILE) sticker in an expired U.S. passport. I understand that this is the equivalent of an Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), or rather is a subcategory of having ILR status. It seems that I need to apply for a biometric card of some sort in order to apply for any new employment in the UK. Beginning the online application process for the updated version brought me to a point where it asks if I am applying for either a Biometric Residency Permit or a Biometric Residency Card. Reading around I cannot find a clear distinction nor which box I should tick. There must be some difference or they wouldn't ask. Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2 biometric documents? I might then use that info to assess my particular case, which is not too complicated. My "settlement" here is as the spouse of a Brit citizen.
Thanks to anyone
{I have travelled in and out of the UK several times without any major obstruction using the old passport with that 'Entry Clearance' sticker and my current US passport. I believe that this travel is still allowed even though passport control at Manchester airport have been a bit resistant.}
