Nationality on my BRP (Hong Kong BNO)

Post by Hybbck » Sat May 29, 2021 6:43 pm

I have just received my BRP from my Hong-Kong BNO visa, it showed GBN in my Nationality. I am from Hong Kong. However, all my Hong Kong friend's BRP are showing Hong Kong in their Nationality. Is that mine one is incorrect.

It may be correct.

GBN is the three character passport code for "British National (Overseas)". If you submitted the BN(O) passport at the time of your application, it makes sense to have applied that code to your BRP as well.

It may be possible that your freinds may not have applied as BN(O)s themselves, but as dependents of BN(O)s, in which case, it is likely that they did not get GBN on their BRP. You may want to check with them which passports they submitted along with the application.
