Sorry, I could probably find all this out if I had hours to research all the various points of info on the web.
But I need a nanny to start at the beginning of July.
I have a girl who wants the job . She is from the Philippines and currently living in China.
Does she need a work permit?
If so how do we go about getting it?
Should she do it or do we need to do it?
Who do we contact?
Does it cost anything?
etc etc
Sorry I am a complete beginner at this.
Any helpful reponse is greatly appreciated
Thanks
I think this might answer your question:

To add more, though:
Does she need a WP? Well, firstly you need to prove you have looked at the 'home' (UK) market and cannot find anyone willing/able to do the job. Can you prove that....honestly, I know of 17 y/o French kids that are nannies in the UK (and I kid you not, no pun intended!), so unfortunately unless she has a PhD in nanny care/childcology or whatnot, she is likely to fail the WP test. Basically, there wouldn't be any reason for you to seek a nanny from China/Philippines when there are literally thousands of well-qualified nannies around the EU/UK. Plus, it (to me) is an unskilled job....and WP are normally skilled/high-level jobs with specialist skills. So WP is out anyway.
The UK, IMHO, doesn't make it easy to hire nannies/domestic workers from abroad, because they aren't skilled, anyone (nearly) can do the job, and there's a risk in that people might try to bring over family members as domestic workers (and I do think it already probably happens).
The Domestic Worker visa is for nannies and the like, but you won't be able to use this unless you're a diplomat or whatever, and also unless she has been working with/for you before submitting the application, see here:

In conclusion! You will likely fail in hiring her or anyone else from abroad because 1. there are suitable candidates in the UK thus you'd fail the WP test, and 2. she needs to have worked for you before submitting the application. Unless she is highly qualified, she probably won't qualify for any other category in order to come to the UK.
