Standard Visitor Visa United Kingdom

Post by benjamin_ » Thu Mar 07, 2024 9:11 pm

Hello Everyone, I am applying for my mum's visitor visa to visit me in the UK (I currently reside in the UK). I will not be sponsoring the finances but my brother will, I will only be providing accommodation for her.

My question, is it ok if my brother (in Nigeria) pay the money for her travel expenses into her account and I use only her statement of account as part of supporting documents? Or do my brother need to have the money in his own account then I provide both the statement of my brother and my mum as part of the supporting documents?

I need advice on this.

Thank you.

If at this point the money is remitted to her account, it can be taken by CW as packing the account and that's like a guaranteed refusal.
Do note that for visit visa it goes beyond financial evidence, there is need to demonstrate strong ties to home country, her personal circumstances etc.

He usually send money to her regularly so I don't know if that counts a strong "strong ties to home country" also, I've heard from someone who did same approach but I needed to double check here.

If so then he can supply documents to show financial commitment to her and your mother's bank statement will corroborate this to his attending to her welfare.
This goes beyond financial ties, other socio-economic ties, family ties to indicate she will return to home country after her visit.

Just to add to what has been said. Your brother should fully sponsor her using his account. She can attach hers as part of the package, he would need to attach 6 months bank statement and payslips to back it up. Plus a letter depicting all scenarios including monthly stipends sent to her.
You brother being in-country also shows that she has ties back home.

You can support with your earnings and accommodation as well.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Thank you for your feedback.
What I added to the supporting document since my brother sent the money to her account already is my brother's Employment letter, payslips and work ID.

Would this be a problem given that my brother have written a letter stating he's sponsoring her trip and he mentioned he transferred the money to her account?

Hope you can help confirm this.

Thanks.

I'm not even going to try and sugarcoat it, that's a mistake. It would be a problem.

Sudden injection of funds.

My advise would be to forget about applying now. Wait 7 months. That money would be a foundation in the account and doesn't need to be explained away. Only 6 months statement is required. If that makes any sense.

Always better to wait and get it right, than rush in and fail.

Better to ask the questions, get all clarifiables clarified before taking action.
The funds could have easily stayed in your brother's account. We have and also read of people who got visas without having up to £50 in their account.
Chances of success has reduced by that singular action.
