UK visitor visa for parents

Post by vineet17 » Sun Feb 18, 2024 7:05 pm

Hello all,

I wanted to invite my parents to UK for a visit and was planning to sponsor the trip and provide bank statements, etc to prove that I can support their travel and stay whilst in the UK.

My question is - do I need to provide any bank statements from my parents' accounts, or will my document proof be enough to receive a visa?

Thanks in advance!

@vineet17 , it's not your first post of the forum - you should know that you shouldn't just take someone else's post for your personal questions. Topics split.

And yes, you need to show their finances. You show that you're ready to accept them, but UKVI wants to see they have something to return to; if they have no money and no ties back home, UKVI will think they won't return.

Hello meself2,

My apologies, and thank you for the feedback.

Can I use any other documents to prove my parents' ties back home, like a rental agreement, etc?

If I have to show their finances, can you suggest guidelines on minimum amounts and minimum period? Thanks again.

You can and you should, but you need to show their finances regardless.

There's no guaranteed sum of money that would certainly work, it varies on case by csse basis. Keep in mind they would need to show their income and sources for it; if there are unexplained transactions, eg a big sum of money was suddenly lodged, it'll ring alarm bells.

Thanks again for the information.

My parents have bank accounts but no savings as I support them by sending over money each month, all of which gets used.

My dad has rental agreement in his name that is valid till November this year and he has a car.

I can explain all of this in the cover note and provide all my bank statements with sufficient savings over long time, along with my mortgage statement and employment letter. However, do you think it's likely they could still get their visas approved to visit the UK?

The circumstances you have described are going to make your parents visit to the UK very challenging. The fact you are fully supporting your parents will cause a barrier to your parents visit.

It is not only your financial ability that comes into play but theirs too.
Evidence of strong ties to home country that will interest them to return after the visit. If their means of sustenance is in UK and they are coming to that I.e. you, what incentive is there to make them go back to home country?

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any suggestions on how to prove their incentive to go back to home country? I can include their current rental agreement, and also return flight tickets, but beyond that I'm not clear how we can prove this. Grateful for any guidance here.

Ties to home country through economic ties e.g. any income for them, pension payments from government, evidence of property or properties and or lands they own.
Family ties e.g. if your grandparents are still alive, your other siblings and their children living in home country.
Sociocultural ties and responsibilities etc.
