Higher fees for Dependent visa

Hello,

I am on ILR, applying for extension of my wife's dependent visa.

I am applying for 3 years extension, but it's asking me to pay £1636 fees which is for 3 years +.

The dates I am entering for my CoS is:
Start date: 1st Jan 2022
End date: 1st Jan 2025

My wife's current visa expires on 15 Jan 2025

I am not sure why its taking 3 years + fees. Any suggestions? Thanks

Is this being my cos date is 3 years + 1 day?

End date should be 31st December. Looks like its taking 3 years + fee. But this shouldn't matter because she only needs 3 year visa. What should I do? Thanks

I also faced the same issue today while applied for my dependents. In my case, I put an imaginary work end date as I have got my ILR already. I guess this happened because the system counted the COS duration more than 3 years . However, it charged IHS for three years. Taken together this is a system fault in my opinion. I am planning to ask for a refund, what do you guys think.

I lodged 10 extensions last month, all three years in length and were charged £827 (up to three years fee) for the application fee.

I've done 3 so far this month, and unfortunately it's charging £1636 (longer than three years fee).

The helpline said there were "no known issues" with the way it charges nor any change to the systems that would impact how it calculates the relevant fee.

They did this a couple of months back with the IHS fee (charging 3.5 years instead of 3) and in the end emailed the applicant advising that they were overcharged and a refund would be issued, which it was.

I can only assume they have broken the system and that, upon processing of the extension, they see the incorrect (higher) fee has been paid and refund back to the payment card.

I am in the similar situation, I know if we have paid IHS in excess it will be refunded , but will they refund application fees also if it is charged wrongly. Please advise what you have done and should I simply pay and continue.

I am facing similar overpayment issue for Skilled worker dependant visa.

I hold a Skilled Worker visa from May 2022 to May 2027.I recently applied for a Skilled Worker Dependent visa for my daughter outside UK on December 2024.

While filling out the application, I noticed that there was no option to select the length of CoS. Instead, it asked for my work start and end date as mentioned in my CoS .

I can confirm that there were no manual errors while filling out the visa application. Please find the attached file for reference.

However, the system automatically calculated the visa fee for 5 years(~ £1420) instead of less than 3 years(£720) (which should match the difference between current date to my visa expiry date in 2027.

I got the visa approved two months back without overpaid visa fee refund. Hence I have raised couple of complaints with UKVI regarding a refund for the overpaid visa fee, but I haven’t received any response.

Could anyone confirm whether the dependent visa fee should be based on the actual CoS length or just the remaining period until the CoS expiry?”

If this is a overpayment then how to get the refund?

Kindly check with Immigration professional and validate your application once again. I have faced similar situation and paid the amount shown on the application link due to the verbal assurance provided by one of the UKVI helpline assistant for refund of overpaid visa fee. Unfortunately I haven't got any refund since 3 months post visa decision.

Has anyone made any further progress on this issue? I'm in a similar situation where I am applying for a visa for 1 year and 10 months. I've paid the IHS fee correctly for 2 years, but the visa fee has been calculated as if it's for more than 3 years. I believe this might be a system error, possibly due to the system using the original CoS start and end dates. I'm at the step of paying the fee but haven't done so yet, as I'm trying to raise this question with support. Unfortunately, I haven't received a response so far. Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated!
