How to check the number of Undefined CoS on the SMS

I am asking this on behalf of a friend. My friend's employer is an A-rated sponsor and want to sponsor my friend who is already in the UK(currently he is working with him being a dependant of his wife). The employer have already sponsored someone from abroad and assigned him a defined CoS. The process of allocating a new undefined CoS is already mentioned in the "The sponsorship management system (SMS) manuals" part.7 but there is no guidance if the sponsor have already an unallocated undefined CoS. We want to know if that's the case to not request an increase in the number of CoS and use the one already present. Thanks.

If SMS shows the sponsor has an undefined COS that has not been assigned or used they are free to assign that COS. There is no need to request a further COS.

That is what I am asking for, how to check that on the SMS?

Shouldn't this be for a Defined CoS and not for an undefined one, moreover, it lets you create a new CoS, if I am right, this means it will be like asking for a new undefined CoS and not using an existing one?
