How long does it take to get the first time passport application?

In my case a provisional drivers license was enough. You can get them in UK with just an application and in Ireland by passing a theory test, without having to pass the full driver's license test which is easy enough.

We're still stuck on Verifying, since they received the additional ID (which I hope they accept otherwise I don't know where we go from here).
Our new estimated issue date is 24 October so I'm assuming there will be no movement until, at best, a week before that.
We have not yet received our original supporting docs back and in fact I don't know whether they've even sent them.

Update:

I've got my passport book and passport card finally, it was such a journey and thank you guys for being with me.

Finally, my passport is dispatched today. Two weeks ago, I was asked for additional documents and here’s my timeline.

09/10/2024: Dispatched. Your Passport Book was posted on 09/10/2024. Track your passport directly using your An Post reference code: LG17*******IE

09/10/2024: Printing. Your Passport Book is being printed. Any\all documents submitted will be returned separately.

04/10/2024: Processing application. Your application is being processed

26/09/2024: Processing application. We have received your supporting documents. We are now verifying these documents.

19/09/2024: Alert. We have received your application. You must submit your supporting documents to proceed with the application.

16/09/2024: Processing application. Your application is being processed

26/08/2024: Processing application. We have received your supporting documents. We are now verifying these documents.

23/08/2024: Alert. We have received your application. You must submit your supporting documents to proceed with the application.

Hopefully, yours too is nearing the end of this arduous journey…

Same here... additional ID received by passport office on Tues, was on Verification and changed to processing on Friday. Hopefully will get the passport quicker than the additional 3 week ETA...

Anyone reading this in future...if you are applying for a passport on the basis of naturalisation...ignore the instruction to not send a second form of ID in addition to passport. They will ask for it later most likely delaying the application.

Got my FBR certificate end of September 2024

Applied online right away for the first time passport. Took a while to contact my Notary as he was away, but,
I am ready to submit:
1. FBR colour copy - Notarised
2. Original long form birth certificate
3. Colour copy of my UK driving licence - Notarised
4. Colour copy of the ID page of my UK passport - Notarised
5. Colour copy of my Seychelles passport - Notarised
6. An original UK tax coding letter - Notarised
7. A British Telecom bill as proof of address - this had to be printed from an online bill - as BT do not send out post copies.

Does this sound enough for them to process from anyone's experience?

What exactly have they asked you for?

Chris was referring to a problem involving recently naturalised citizens. It seems many - if not all - of us were initially told we could submit just one photo ID provided it was an original national passport.
It then transpired they wanted 2 forms of ID.

I imagine the requirements for FBR citizens are different. What you’ve listed sounds very comprehensive but I don’t know what you were asked to provide.

What I know is that you should check by 1pm every day because they approve applications in the morning and the tracker updates around that time. The 24th is next week, and my ETA was the 23rd, and I received my passport a week earlier, so you have a good chance of them approving your application, printing it, and shipping it today.

Looks like the tracker has stopped updating (well for me at least although I did try on two devices)...was previously updating every two hours but hasn't updated since 11am today...

Have given up and am drowning my sorrows in a stiff vodka martini.

Just of curiosity has the tracker stopped updating for you as well Helen (or anyone else reading this? My wife's application is still stuck with update from yesterday 11am.

Now, bear in mind you are dealing with a complete techno nincompoop and tell me how I can tell when the tracker last updated. I did look at around 11 am Irish time (we're in France) and it's still stuck on Processing. I'm going nuts. We applied mid-August and it's now over 2 months.

Just checked on a Facebook group (am not on Facebook so don't have proper access but can catch glimpses of conversations). A lady has just asked whether the tracker is down because it doesn't appear to be updating as of 11 am yesterday.
Quite a few other people have chipped in and said the same thing. One guy said the progress bar had gone backwards in his case! I confess that cheered me up.

ah well...not just us then...
