ILR 10 year route

Post by fmirzanott » Sun Feb 09, 2025 12:20 pm

Hello All with good understanding on continuous stay related queries
I came to UK on 8 jan 2016 from India on ICT tier 2 short term visa, went back on 24 December 2016 , and came back again on new visa i.e ICT tier 2 long term with online submission date 21 Jan 2017,biometric date 27 Jan 2017 and arrival date 3 Feb 2017 . Since then I have stayed continuously and later switched to student dependent visa . In December 2025 I will complete my 10 years but I am skeptical about my continuous stay due to what happened in between 2016/2017 mentioned above.I want to discuss my eligibility for ILR.
I read somewhere that if you leave country on one visa and comeback on another visa then the new application should have been made within 14 days or 30 days of visa expiry.
But on ukvi site I see it says that if you have gone out of country not more than 180 days in one length then it's fine.please help me understand

If you leave the UK with a valid visa and return within 6 months, the continuous residence is maintained under long residence. However, this is not true for other routes and so it causes confusion

1. Do NOT tag your questions onto other members topics. Post split.

2. Why have you registered a second username to ask the exact same question you asked as another username 4 days ago??? Multiple usernames are strictly not permitted on the forum!!
Char (CR001 not Casa)
