I’m looking for advice from anyone with a similar experience regarding a family visa application for a dependent who turned 18.
I first arrived in the UK in 2021 on a Skilled Worker (SW) visa and brought my wife and four kids as dependents.
Due to pressing family circumstances, they had to return to Egypt after 8 months.
I continued working in the UK, extending my SW visa twice with short contract renewals from the university I'm working for.
In my third extension, I switched to the Global Talent (GT) visa, and a year later, I obtained an ILR a month ago.
I am now applying for my family under the Family Visa route.
The only issue is that my oldest son is now 18. He was previously in the UK as my dependent on the SW visa but has been in Egypt since 2022. He is still financially dependent on me, and I will continue supporting him whether he comes under a family or student visa.
My questions:
Has anyone successfully applied for a family visa for a dependent child over 18?
What proof of dependency did you provide?
Would it be safer to apply for a Student Visa instead?[/list]
I’d appreciate any insights or similar experiences before I proceed with the application.
