Sample letters - Personal statement, Landlord

Post by ariesr » Sat Apr 06, 2019 3:22 pm

Hi there,

I'm finalising gathering evidence for my wifes spousal visa application to come to UK.

The one I'm particularly focussed on is that personal statement I have to make. Would anyone know of any sample letters highlighting the important points to be made that they would be happy to share?

Also, regarding sending documents to support the application, is scanned copies sufficient, or it better to take everything to Sheffield UKCVAS office.

Best Regards
Rodney

Personal statement
Not mandatory although it is good to do a covering letter.
This letter should list every document being included (in case Home Office miss a document, the covering letter may make them double check)
You can confirm you’re happy to support your wife without recourse to public funds.
Personally I would not list when you met, how you know each other etc as the application form covers the specific details they required.

Sheffield
You cannot take documents - they need to be posted.
All documents must be original hard copies

The scanned system refers to an extension of the visa, not the initial visa.

For members to help you should state which country you’re applying from and how you are satisfying the financial requirements etc.

Hi Ariamus,

Thank you for the straightforward advice, I thought just mentioning my spouse was coming to the UK would be enough.

I have been employed in a full time permanent staff job for over 6months earning above the threshold required. Thats how I would support my wife coming to stay in the uk. At the moment I am staying with family who have moved into a newly built house with space for us in order to settle. I myself was born in UK with UK Passport.

You’ll need a letter from your parents confirming you and your wife can reside with them, can mention rent free if you wish although outgoings/expenses aren’t looked at.

You’ll also need evidence your parents own the home, such as land registry and mortgage statement.

I’m not sure if you need a housing inspection report as you’ll be living with direct family, we did get one just to be on the safe side.
