Spouse Visa-Council House

Post by ninaaiya » Thu Aug 06, 2015 10:01 am

Hi There,

I am applying for our Spouse visa, my husband is Thai. Currently I live in a 1 bedroom flat that I rent from the council, no one else lives there-except my husband when he visits. I have lived there for 5 years, I do not claim any benefits and I meet the financial requirement.

Would I be able to apply as I live in social housing-or does it count as public funds? If I can use my address what documentation would I need?

My Mum has said if necessary I can use her address, as she owns her house and it has 3 bedrooms. For this option, I could get a mortgage statement and a letter saying we can live there with her description of the property etc. would I need anything else?

Would I need to get an inspection report done, on all the forums etc I have seen I have never heard of this!

Thanks

Yes you can use your property - you just need to inform them that your husband is living there once he arrives.
You would need to provide the tenancy agreement and a letter from your housing officer/local office confirming that it is ok for your husband to join you.
Inspection reports are for sponsors living in homes that may be seen as overcrowded without the report.

Spouse Visa UK-Council refuse to write permission letter

Post by ninaaiya » Mon Oct 05, 2015 12:49 pm

Hi Everyone,

So my local Council, will not provide me a letter saying my husband can stay with me. They said they do not get involved with immigration matters, and told me that my tenancy agreement will provide all the information for property size etc.

Can I apply with just the tenancy agreement perhaps with a copy of the email they sent me in regards to my request? What else can I do?

Any ideas appreciated, the rest of our application is fine it is just the accommodation part that’s the problem.

One option is my Mother says she will write saying I can stay in the family home (that she owns), the house is big enough, but I have no time to get an inspection report done…as her council said they cannot do one for at least 3 weeks and that’s when I go to Thailand to lodge the application! Would her mortgage details and a letter from her be enough?

Thanks

A Property inspection report is not mandatory. But providing a false one may lead to a refusal.

Living with your mother may be okay too.

Ok. But what would be the best option apply with my property and the tenancy agreement only?

Or living with my mother?

I'm not going to falsify any documents!

Get an estate agent to do the inspection report. I think living with your mother would be safer because she can provide a letter saying you and your spouse can live there rent-free.
