I am somewhat of a silent observer on these boards but they have been very helpful during stressful periods so I wanted to share my experience. This is the first application we have done via post as usually we would go to the premium service centre:

Applied for ILR Route : SET (M) - 5 Year Route
Date application sent: Online 14/08/2018
Payment Debited (paid online): 14/08/2018
Biometric Letter received (online automatically) : 14/08/2018
Acknowledgement email: 15/08/2018
Date Biometrics Enrolled : 18/08/2018
Supporting Documents sent: 23/08/2018
Documents received by HO : 24/08/2018
Email Application still under consideration: 17/09/18, 15/10/18, 14/11/18, 17/12/18, 14/01/19
Return of Documents and approval letter: 29/01/19
BRP Card Received : Waiting

Knowing that other people were also waiting for periods as long as this was very reassuring when I was panicking that there was a problem. I can't quite believe that we are finally there are 6 years of applications and stress. To everyone still waiting, keep calm, it will be fine!

I am applying with two dependents needing second extension, we enrolled the biometrics at the same time. My solicitor helped us sent out the applications. My case is straight forward as well the only reason we involved the solicitor is that we needed it to be more secure . It is nice to feel not alone here. Hope we all get good results soon.
Merry Christmas everyone
Long 4 months passing, still no result. The waiting is being painful, really hope it will end up soon .

Date application sent : 28/01/2019 (ONLINE) Paid via SUPER PRIORITY Service^
Document received by HO : 13/02/2019 {I'm guessing, they received this on 28/01 but they don't look at it, unless you've paid for the SPS)

Biometric Letter received : 08/02/2019 * (Auto generated Email received/ was confusing, as paid for SPS^
Date Biometrics Enrolled : 13/02/2019 [FREE appointment booked for SPS (would have been £100 if i booked it 1 week after application)] Croydon @ Sopra Steria
Payment Debited : 29/01/2019

*** Note, prior to receiving approval email. I received a telephone call on 14/02/2019 about a document they couldn't find on the upload, the proof of passing the Life in the UK Test. Fortunately, I had the copy on me and could quote my pass number, but the case worker called on an anonymous number to request this.

Applied for ILR Route : Set(O) Tier 2 General
Application sent : 31/8/18 (online)
Document received by HO :
Ack letter received (if applicable) : 3/9/18 (email)
Biometric Letter received : 31/8/18 (online)
Date Biometrics Enrolled : 31/8/18
Payment Debited : 31/8/18
Email "application still under consideration": 1/10/18, 31/10/18, 30/11/18, 31/12/18, 31/1/19
Email asking further information: 6/2/19
Approval letter received : 14/2/19 (Dated 7/2/19. Supporting documents returned together)
BRP Card Received : 11/2/19

This is a straightforward case, but took over 5 months. The decision was made immediately after I provided further information (just answered a simple question). Based on information posted here and my experience, I think 5-5.5 months would be a typical time frame for Set(O) Tier 2 General (and perhaps for other routes as well) at this moment.

Applied for ILR Route : Set(M)
Application sent (online): Monday 4 February 2019
Ack of application email received: Tuesday 5 February 2019
Super Priority appointment: Monday 11 February 2019 at 11:30am (no earlier dates within 3 hour radius of Cambridge - had to go to London for additional £200)
Approval email received: Tuesday 12 February 2019 at 11:27am
BRP received: Thursday 14 February 2019

Apart from the lack of appointments near me and the additional cost, I was very impressed with the fast service.
