Hi everyone,
I would be interested if anyone has been in a similar situation as this…
My wife is currently about to apply for the Life in the UK test and we have an issue with her documents.
On the website it states that for identification you need to provide id complying to the following requirements:
“To book your test you must have one of these documents to prove your identity. If you don't have any of these documents, please contact the Home Office.
Please note the name you provide in your test booking must be an exact match to the name contained on the ID you present at the test centre. If your ID includes a middle name, you must include this in the Middle name field or your test will be rejected and you will not receive a refund.
If you have registered in your married name and your ID is in your maiden name, you must bring an original UK Marriage certificate, or a UK Spouse Visa (within date), or a UK Deed Poll (this must show a red seal) to support this. Without one of these your test will be refused and you will not get a refund.”
(Her passport contains her maiden name and her spouse visa also has her maiden name)
The problem is with her documentation to prove her postcode, all her documents with her postcode have her married name on them.
We do not have a UK marriage certificate as we did not get married in the UK or a deed poll document.
We do however have a proof of address document with her maiden name on but this is from our old address (my parents house).
I am wondering if I register her with the old document (with both her maiden name on and old address) whether this will cause an issue when we apply for her ILR as the Life in the UK test would contain her old postcode?
Sorry for the long post and I would be very grateful for any advice people had!
Thank you!
