Indian passport renewal - London

Post by sellerofdreams » Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:09 pm

My passport has been showing as "print initiated" for the last 10 days. HCI keeps telling me its "under process" - I've emailed the passport email multiple times, and they respond quickly but are very unhelpful. Need to travel urgently in mid-October so need my passport back by 11 Oct.

Any idea how long it takes from the print initiated stage? Can I withdraw my application and get my old passport back (it has a few more months of validity)? Anyone know how to get an appointment at the High Commission for this purpose?

Received my passport. I think I've messaged you on twitter!

I emailed the high commissioner and deputy high commissioner directly on 24 Sept using the publicly available email addresses. Received acknowledgment from the passport London office the same day. They printed it the next day and called me to say I could pick it up. From emailing the commissioner to receiving the passport took 48 hours.

There are ridiculous delays at the minute, I think because of system issues. Passports are printed in London so they do have the capability to expedite your request if you state that you're travelling (helps if you're travelling for a particular reason eg a wedding).
