General Employment Permit

Post by mfrank98 » Sat Jul 25, 2020 7:12 pm

Hi all,

I'm graduating from college in the USA on Wednesday and have a job lined up in Ireland starting in November. My employer is starting my General Employment Permit application on Monday.

1. Will it be a problem that I most likely won't have my degree awarded at the time of application? Will a letter from the university that I have completed all coursework suffice?

2. How long can I expect this process to take right now? It looks like online they start processing about 2 weeks after receipt of application (https://dbei.gov.ie/en/What-We-Do/Workp ... ing-Dates/), but how long should I expect it to take after they begin processing it?

3. I don't need an entry visa to Ireland as an American citizen, so once I have my employment permit I should be good to travel to Ireland, right? And then once I arrive register with INIS.

Thanks so much for your help!
