Passport tracking

Post by Drewsie » Fri Jan 26, 2024 2:48 pm

Obtained my Irish passport using FBR. My passport shown as Printed & tracked it from office to the Dublin mail centre. So it seems to be on the move.

However in over 24 hours there has been no tracking information. Have others had this experience? Is it because the tracking number from the Irish Post only gives tracking info when movement in Ireland? Or is the UK post office just not able to track the passport?

Bit annoying, as I don't want to miss it coming. So staying it anxiously waiting for it. After 18 months process, I know I should be used to waiting,, but come on UK post office pull your finger out.

Just checked on Royal Mail tracking site. The same number works on Royal Mail to track the passport.

However the Royal mail is showing exact same message. Tells me its leaving overseas. This message was on 25/01/24 at 4.37am so no info for 36 hours. I could fly to Australia & have 12 hours sleep in that time.

It takes a while - not all post is sent simultaneously. Passport applications thread had people mentioning delays due to Royal Mail taking a while.

I know you're anxious, but you've waited for that long already; add these few days to the whole process.

Thanks for your post.

Problem is I am off to the Caribbean next week. Have a UK passport which I can use.

Could be in the position where as I am not at home then passport will be returned as I am away for longer than 2 weeks, the Royal Mail say they return it after 15 days if not collected.

Then booked to go to my property in Fuerteventura on March 19th.Need my Irish passport as I am over my 90/180 day allowance on my UK passport.

Still worse things happening in the world. As you said waited a long time just another hurdle to overcome in the passport journey.

Still wondering if royal mail are not updating tracking. I have had experienced this on several occasions. So was hoping to find if others have had no tracking updates. Then I would have at least some progress was being made with my passport arriving sooner rather than latter.

39 hours since last update.

Passport now arrived at Heathrow.
So relieved as I think it is a good bet it will get to me before I leave to go to the Caribbean next week.

Hope this thread helps anyone else in UK mainland to anticipate that there may be a long delay between updates when passport travels from Dublin to Heathrow.
Happy days.
