Stamp 1 Visa - Family member period to stay outside Ireland

Post by victorieraja » Wed Jan 03, 2024 6:15 pm

Dear All

My wife got Stamp 1 visa and she is sponsoring myself as family joiner. After getting the Ireland visa for myself as dependent, how long i can go out of Ireland in a single stretch?
If i am staying out of Ireland for continuously 6 months after the visa, will it impact the Visa? am i eligible to travel back to Ireland after 6 months? As my employer is not ready to leave me as I am in the contract.

After 1 year of out side stay, if i stay in Ireland for continuous 5 years, am i eligible to apply for Citizenship?

I have queried this a few times with INIS and BMU and urged them to put this onto their website. It is an inherent part of the requirements when a non-EU national takes up residences in Ireland - almost all stamps covered by domestic laws allow people to be out of the country for a maximum of 3 months, with the exception EUTR (6 months) and IIP (0/1 day).
But since it doesn't specify the duration, it doesn't necessarily mean you can leave for 2 and a half months, come back for one day, leave for 2 months, repeat - they can always question you, as your stamp conditions specify you need to "reside continiously in the State".

Yes.

Why not just join your spouse a year late?
Not a qualified immigration adviser. Use links and references given to gain confirmation and/or extra information.

Thank you for the reply.

My plan is to travel inbetween every quarter as the kids also gonna be there. Better I will make it like every visit per 2.5 months.

Also I may consider your opinion about joining after a year

Thanks 😊
