Maintenance Requirement

Post by monjilaf » Wed Feb 15, 2023 12:56 pm

I am in the UK on a student visa (arrived Oct 2022), I recently got offered a role where a company is willing to sponsor me for a tier 2 visa, so I am looking to switch, they are preparing the CoS letter but confirmed they will not provide maintenance guarantee.

I didn't the the required funds (£945) for 3 months continuously as proof of self maintenance and wanted to see if the options below would be acceptable

1. As I am in the UK already would they require this?
2. Can a family member who can prove sufficient funds be a guarantor? - I transferred all my funds to my mothers account before I left for the UK, she transfers to my UK account as and when needed

Appreciate any input on this

Depends how long you have been in the UK.

Money to support yourself
You must have at least £1,270 in your bank account to show you can support yourself in the UK.

You will need to have had the money available for at least 28 days in a row. Day 28 must be within 31 days of applying for this visa.

You’ll usually need to show proof of this when you apply, unless either:

you’ve been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months

your employer can cover your costs during your first month in the UK, up to £1,270
2. Can a family member who can prove sufficient funds be a guarantor? - I transferred all my funds to my mothers account before I left for the UK, she transfers to my UK account as and when needed
No, you cannot do this. It must be in your account only if you are not exempt.
