National insurance deductions for Tier 2

Post by uberhaus » Wed Oct 14, 2015 10:36 pm

Do tier 2 individuals have to pay into national insurance? or receive refunds? because this visa says no recourse to public funds.

You must pay in, but you don't get to take out...

Thanks, but there has to be a way out of this. Are there any dual agreements with other countries? For example, there is an agreement with the US Social Security.

All workers have to pay NI contributions, it is a legal/tax requirement. No way to get around this unfortunately.

No, I'd like to understand the pension and tax implications of moving abroad. There are social security agreements that the UK has with these countries:

Barbados, Bermuda, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Guernsey, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Jersey, the former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia, Mauritius, Montenegro, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Serbia, Turkey, USA.

My question is: If one is a citizen/resident of one of these countries and moves to the UK, will that individual still be required to pay into National Insurance or can they contribute to their home country's social security program? or pay into National Insurance but somehow is connected to another country's social security program? (this is the part I am confused about)

Got it :) my next question is about..what happens next after it is paid? Is there a way to receive it back when moving out of the UK? or is it gone forever?

I apologize if this not a very smart question. This is my first time moving out of my home country and I am trying to plan out my financials.

Trying to find information online as well. I've found this: https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance-if-you-go-abroad

But it is for those moving out of the UK, Thanks for all your help!

I thin the key term here is 'insurance'. If you have car insurance but never claim, do you get it all back?

Only if you have overpaid your type 1s.

It's income tax that can be claimed back for the months you had left the UK during that tax year.
