Hi - hoping someone can help with a few queries I have in relation to a naturalisation application I'll be making for my wife.
Entered the UK on a spouse visa in 2016, granted FLR in 2019 & granted ILR in 2022.
1) Previously, I believe there was a requirement to provide evidence that the applicant was present in the UK exactly 5 years before the application is made (I.E application made on 29th August 2024, proof needed that applicant was in the UK on 29th August 2019). I've heard rumours that this is being reduced or has been reduced to 3 years - what's the current requirement?
2) We're a bit confused on how we can prove this exactly - we have the original passport (with entry/exit stamps) she had when FLR was granted (this passport has now expired and been replaced) & we also have bank statements for our joint account which shows regular spending (with shop names). Unsure if this is sufficient though as the bank statements don't make it obvious as to who's actually spending.
Thanks in advance.

No proof required for this just make sure that date is not in the list of absences!
There's no rumor - if wife is spouse of a British citizen she only has to provide data for the past three year, working back from the application date. So this specific requirement would be for 29th August 2021, otherwise 5 years applies.
No specific proof is required as explained.
Thanks in advance.

Another quick question,
My wife passed a B1 language test in Dec 2020 at Trinity College Glasgow Branch (we used this unique electronic reference number & copy of certificate during her ILR application in 2022) and she also passed life in the UK test in Jan 2020 (we used the unique reference number during her ILR application in 2022). If my understanding is correct, she doesn't need to re-take either exam (language or life in the UK) and we can re-use the results from her previous application?
Thanks in advance

Hi - looking for some guidance please.
Today we’ve completed and submitted my wife’s naturalisation application. The application form asked when she entered the UK (September 2016) and also asked for details of any time she has spent outside the UK.
She was in Pakistan for 80 days in late 2022 and I included details of this on the naturalisation application.
She was also in Pakistan in 2018 for around 5 weeks and we were abroad in 2017 for around 10 days - on the naturalisation application, we didn’t include details of these two trips (2017 and 2018) as these were originally included in her FLR and ILR applications.
Just thinking whether we should have included the details of 2017/2018 trips in the naturalisation form or whether it’s not an issue ? If we should have included, should we write a cover letter explaining that we forgot to add these during the application form and submit this online alongside supporting documents ?
Thanks in advance

If she is married to a British citizen, yes. She is applying under Section 6(2) which has only 3 years of residence as a requirement
2) We're a bit confused on how we can prove this exactly - we have the original passport (with entry/exit stamps) she had when FLR was granted (this passport has now expired and been replaced) & we also have bank statements for our joint account which shows regular spending (with shop names). No bank statements. The expired passport, copies of all pages, is enough.
Thanks in advance.

Is wife applying as spouse of British citizen / are you British?

As I stated in my previous post, no need to include those trips, only the last 3 years to the date of application are relevant.
