Do we need to transfer OCI on a minor passport renewal?

Background
Minor has UK passport renewed (3rd passport) . In the past we had to apply for OCI transfer. Is this required now? The Indian high commission websites of different countries give conflicting information.

Can I not take old child passport along?

It is very hard to believe that in this day and age that HCI websites of different countries have different info on OCI requirement procedures when renewing passport for minors.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Transfers were done away with for minors a while back.

You need to use miscellaneous services option on the OCI website to record the new passport details, upload scan of new passport, current photo etc.

They then send you an email to confirm you request has been recorded which you can use along with OCI booklet to travel with. After a few weeks they will send an email telling you the new passport details have been updated, print this email and you should carry this with the OCI booklet.

OCI booklet is now only reissued once when person makes a new passport after age 20.
